The salsa and chips are a good start. Horchata is a must and their cactus and eggs a delish. Friendly folks and high five to the chef.

We came for the first time on a late Thursday afternoon and there was only one other party of two. Nice quaint place. Very homey feeling. Decorations are very nostalgic. My husband ordered an Horchata with Green Chilaquiles scrambled eggs and steak. I ordered a "Cafe de Olla" with Red Chilaquiles with eggs over medium without any meat. We also ordered the chicken sopes to share.

I would've given the place 5 stars if our waitress wouldn't have messed up so much on our order. First of all, she wrote our order on her hand and we had to repeat it three times because her pen wouldn't write on her skin. Second, the "Cafe de Olla" was not sweet and when I asked for sugar, she gave me Sweet n Low without asking what kind of sweetner. Thirdly, she brought both of us red chilaquiles when my husband had asked for green. The cook seemed a bit bothered when she returned the plate and he threw it very loudly in a bin. When she finally brought the green chilaquiles, they didn't have the steak my husband had originally asked for, so we left it at that. Overall, the food was good, but the service would've made it excellent. Makes me wonder how they get things right when they're actually busy.

    FOOD HEAVEN ALERT!!!

I found this place through Yelp and the amount of 5 star reviews immediately convinced me to go check it out. Even with my huge hype and my high expectations, this place didn't disappoint - I had lunch here twice during my 1,5 week stay in L.A.!!

Quite small but cozy, amazing, authentic, family-operated, friendly Mexican place - as good as it gets. Their fish tacos were definitely one of my top meals while in Los Angeles - four tacos with generous portions of fish on top and a fresh, light, limey taste. My husband was very happy and surprised with his beef quesadillas too.

Prices are also top class! If I lived in L.A. I would go to this place every week.

    May bueno! Me gusta!
Translation: I like, me likey. Berry, berry goood!

Very convenient location, close to staples center, and the metro as well. I strongly suggest you make your way to El Patroncito via walking. There is a nice mural with stylish graffiti on the ally with "al fresco" dining available. Or, inside the establishment is a small ranchito style dining room, very much like a Mexican house, in Mexico.
The staff is attentive and nice. I had the enchiladas. They were fantastico! Rice and beans are very authentic and tasty. The food is fresh and well presented with a Mexican flag, nice touch. Will definitely come back again. Until then, Hasta la Vista, baby.

Great service and fun food! The location is so near downtown LA so if you wanna eat before dinner or lunch before your event, it's not that far, literally a walking distance.  We went on a Wednesday early evening to eat breakfast, yes breakfast for dinner!! it was nice and quiet, the hostess was very attentive and friendly. The food was okay, we order the chillaquiles, both red and green sauce,  I was not disappointed. The red sauce was not spicy but was tasty and the green was a little spicy. They served a very spicy sauce with their chips it was delicious. I loved to go back for breakfast time in the morning if they opened earlier but unfortunately they open at 10am :(  I'm getting ready to eat lunch at 10am.
